Percival Vain is a knight from the 12th century who has lived his whole life with a mission. 8 years ago, his father was brutally murdered and every day since his life has been dedicated to finding his killer and, more importantly, for Percival to regain his honor. But when Percival gets shot forward 9 centuries, his plans change.
Navigating the perils of the 2009 with a colorful cast of characters, Percival gets roped into a new quest: save a journalist from certain doom at the hands of a mad scientist.
Facing thugs with guns, drug addicted rodents and other new dangers he has never encountered before, Percival has a chance to bring his honor back and find answers, even if they’re 900 years late. This new world is strange, but he stands against it all, unafraid. Will he be able to save the day before he runs out of time?
Out of Time is a noir-comedy short film written by Connor Ciecko and Austin Spaulding, two media students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Inspired by classic detective movies, 80s action flicks and basically everything on Amazon Prime, Out of Time seeks to parody and pay homage to the movies that came before it.
We started writing this back in the spring when the world shut down. What was originally about three friends fighting dinosaurs in 1980s Miami Beach evolved into something modern, self-aware and tongue-in-cheek.
